Wow! I have an 18 year old home with a 4 inch dryer vent straight up through the ceiling to the roof - no corners, and I thought "no way am I going to get much lint." I WAS WRONG!
Go ahead and get it, you probably need it to help dry clothes faster and not risk a fire. The rods are firm but bendable and the brush does the job. For the money and for what it accomplishes, it's a no-brainer.

Let me start this out by saying that I by no means know everything there is to know about home ownership or maintenance. What I do know was probably learned by Google search or from word of mouth by friends and family.
I used to think that I was doing a great job cleaning out my dryer vent by pulling apart and cleaning the dryer and cleaning/replacing the dryer vent duct. I also would push a vacuum hose up the duct in the house and try to get all the dryer lint.
I WAS WRONG.
Although those are good steps to cleaning the dryer and duct, it isn't the only stuff that should be done. I recently purchased a duct cleaning brush (honestly thought it was overkill but was open to try it) and am amazed on the amount of lint that came out when the brush was scrubbing my duct. Our house is just over 4 years old and attached are the pictures of the extra lint that came out when using the vent. I had no idea that much could make it past the lint trap that most people know of and clean out regularly nor that it could build up that much.
I am shocked at the amount of lint that built up and that my house didn't catch on fire due to it.

I purchased this after noticing quite a bit of lint build-up in the dryer duct while recently replacing our outdoor vent cover/damper. This kit is straightforward and does a good job cleaning out the dryer duct. The kit consists of a brush for 4-inch round duct and six 2-ft flexible rods that screw together. The brush basically pushes the lint through and out the other end of the duct... so, definitely make sure your duct is no more than 12 ft or buy some extra rods to extend the kit... otherwise, you will likely end up with a giant lint blockage somewhere midway though the duct. I used a cordless drill to spin the brush as it went through the duct, but it also moved freely when just pushing it through by hand. Being that the whole thing is screwed together, just make sure to only rotate the rods clockwise or the connections may unscrew and separate inside the duct. The rods are sturdy, but flexible, and easily went through two 90-degree bends in my duct. Also, for easier clean-up, you may want to put down a sheet of plastic or something underneath the outside end of the duct to catch all of the lint and debris that gets pushed out. The components of this kit all seem durable and I would expect them to last for many years. Additionally, I do not believe the product page lists the country of origin, but for anyone interested, this dryer duct cleaning kit is made in China.

This works great! I used a drill and started with one section then kept adding sections. Don't start with too many sections as the drill will tie them into a knot! I was able to pull junk back out of the vent with this. My vent run is about 16 feet, so I've ordered another kit to complete the whole run. What I've done so far has helped tremendously. My vent run is in the crawl space and the stuff I pulled out was cold, damp and caked so I don't see any fire risk at least down there.
More info: If using a drill, keep the speed fairly low and steady any exposed section between the drill and the vent opening with your hand. And NEVER reverse the drill! The brush and sections simply screw together and there's no locking mechanism. ALWAYS turn in a clockwise direction. Had no problems with the sections coming apart. In fact, I had a hard time unscrewing them when I was done and had to use pliers.

Like most others, I was running multiple cycles on my dryer and clothes were still damp. I contacted several companies about cleaning my exhaust vent, and all wanted $129 or higher. I watched a couple of You Time videos about what they do and found this product. There was absolutely no reason why I couldn't do the exact same thing these companies were doing for a lot less money! So I found this product and spen't $17 on Prime to get it in two days.
Holy moly, did this thing work!!! Within the first few feet, I was getting a ton of lint falling out the vent.
Using the product is very simple, you just screw the additional lengths on to the others while they are up inside the vent. It tells you right on the package to only go in the clockwise direction, and then you move your power drill in and out to thoroughly clean the vent. The sections go on very securely, and there is absolutely NO REASON to tape the sections together unless you are an idiot that can't read the instructions. Do NOT use the drill in the counter-clockwise direction, or the sections will unscrew themselves. It's not rocket science.
I have a roof vent and the 12 feet of extensions were more than enough to reach from my laundry room all the way up. After I finished running the brush the full length of the duct twice, I took my electric leaf blower and blew out any remnants. I know it worked because before using it, I noticed a small pile of lint on the roof by the vent, and it subsequently blew away.
And just that quickly... The dryer is drying the clothes on one cycle only!
Save yourself a lot of money, and use this tool once or twice a year!

After reading several articles about cleaning your vent pipes to avoid fire hazards, mildew smell and dryer efficiency, we decided to purchase 2 kits because the pipe runs up the wall into the attic before it exits the roof so we figured 24 ft should be enough since I can't see how many turns it makes in the wall. Do follow the instructions, we did use a drill and every few feet or so we would pull the line back down so we could pull out the lint. The instructions made it sound like drill 1 ft at a time and keep attaching rods, the problem is if there is a lot then in my opinion you could wedge a chunk somewhere and then it is stuck, so we preferred to pull it back down and clear the lint every so many feet. Suffice it to say we must have collected over 3 cups worth. Yuck...But I was so excited to do some laundry to test it out. The dryer seemed to make the clothes slightly more fluffy and slightly better smelling but I will need to do a load of towels to really see how much of a difference it makes in drying time and overall scent improvement. I always clear out my lint trap on the dryer after every load, so that also helped. At the same time we decided to run a sanitize cycle in our washer as well. We did wait for the price to drop to $16 each but it did fall as a low as 14.90...so set up camelcamelcamel.com and monitor it for a price drop.

We just bought a home from an old lady who had lived here for 20 years. I highly doubt she ever cleaned her dryer vent. When we ran the dryer, the clothes weren't getting dry, and the entire mudroom was filling with steam. The vent was so clogged that when I started to clean it out, I found that the steam had been trapped and had made the lint inside turn to mud. I wasn't sure we could even take care of it ourselves. But we ordered this brush to try or at least have it to clean inthe future.
I ended up being so extremely happy with this product. It was flexible enough to fit around the elbow into the vent. I attached one section to the brush at a time, twisted slowly, and then pulled it out to remove any lint that was dislodged so far. Our vent was about 20 feet, so I wanted to make sure I didn't just push lint in farther and clog it worse. With the first two lengths, I just twisted by hand. After that, I used the drill, but I kept the speed quite slow, and I still continued to clear about a foot at a time and pull the brush out while twisting to remove what was dislodged so far.
The brush extensions seemed quite sturdy to me through this whole process. I can see how some people broke theirs by running the drill too fast because if it caught on something while spinning that fast and with the force from the drill, even a very solid extension rod would break. For example, once I got farther into the vent, it turns out there were PINE NEEDLES in the vent. Once I felt resistance, I removed the brush, and a tangled web of pine needles started pulling out of the vent. Apparently birds had been nesting in the vent! No wonder there was a clothes line in the garage when we moved in. The previous owner must have thought her dryer brokeand quit using it. Then birds must have moved in to nest in the lint. I guess it must have been nice for the birds until I moved in and tried to run laundry! But if I had run the drill too fast, it would have caught in those pine needles and broken off for sure.
Anyways, I'd highly recommend this brush. You can see the picture of the final amount of lint and pine needles that we pulled out of the vent. It would have been so expensive to pay someone to clean that out. This was so much cheaper. I'll be using this every year, and I'll DEFINITELY be using it before I run a single load of laundry if I ever move again.

First, let me admit: I didn't think I needed this tool at all, and argued with my husband about spending money on a glorified coat hanger. When the "Auto-Dry" function on our dryer started delivering me damp clothes on a regular basis, I reluctantly agreed to get this and clean out the vent.
Our dryer vents out to the side of the house, in a nearly-straight line that is no more than six feet long; it didn't look clogged from the outside, and seemed to be blowing plenty of air there, so I was skeptical about how much lint might be trapped inside. I was ultimately disgusted to see all the gunk this tool pushed through (my husband was gloating "I told you so.").
You get plenty of extensions for longer duct runs, and they are really flexible. Make sure to tape connecting sections at the junction, and turn the whole thing clockwise only---you don't want the pieces to come apart inside your ductwork. Since we had such a short run, we just manipulated it by hand; I can see how using a drill would be a benefit on long ducts though.
Whether you're paranoid about burning the house down, or you just have a dryer that isn't working so great anymore---you need to get the lint out of the duct! A bonus of sorts: disconnecting and moving the dryer gives you a chance to look for all the missing socks!

We bought a new dryer, cleaned vent out work fantastic!

When I first purchase my dryer it took forever to dry to the point I thought that I had received a defective product. The dryer’s representative said that to check the dryer vent and that it may be the cause for the long drying time. I saw a promotion on those deal sites and even with the so called “professional” cleaning, the dryer’s sensor would run over the allotted time and the clothes felt damp. I didn’t think too much of it since the dryer was drying, but once I saw a dryer fire video, I knew I had to buy and clean my vents.
This product cleaned my vents wonderfully. I think I have a 25 foot vent, but I used the 12 feet one and it worked fine. I cleaned from the dryer to the outside first and then from the outside toward the vents. Then I connected the dryer and pushed out all the lint to the outside (it was lint all over). The rods were really flexible and as many alluded, pushing and pulling the brush with the drill throughout the process helped. Sometimes you may feel like it is stuck, don’t switch the drill in reverse, just continue to engage the drill and try to pull it out. I did use duct tape as the instruction and so many people mentioned as a precaution. You do need a drill since doing it by hand is not optimal (in my opinion). Overall, I strongly recommend this product to clean your vents for faster drying time and to prevent dryer fire.
TL:DR – Cleans vents super well. Use a drill and clean from both ends for effectiveness for vents longer than 12 feet. Rods are flexible, but use duct tape on the joints. Drying times is shorten and longer life span.

I have a machine shop, so I use a shop vac (four, actually) to pick up metal chips, abrasive debris (swarf) grinding dust, and the products of machining and finishing metals. Since machining is done with oils and coolant fluids, the liquids combine with the dust and metal and coat the inside of shop vacuum hoses. Since carpentry is also done, the oil coating the inside of the vacuum hose sticks to the wood dust and the vacuum hose gets heavier, clogged, and is difficult to clean.
Enter the deflecto dryer brush! It's a tight fit in a 2.5" vacuum hose, but goes in. Set your drill on low speed, turn on the vacuum, start from the accessory end and brush and drill your way into the hose. Just use one section of fiberglass rod at a time, stop and add sections until you hear the brush enter the vacuum can. You'll know because the sound. As it rotates, the vacuum pulls the debris into the cannister, and the operation is clean, with no mess! Turn off the vacuum, pop off the lid, unscrew the brush end, and remove the fiberglass rod sections from the hose.
Seriously, you guys need to direct this towards the machine shop industry; it's a lifesaver! Call it a shop vac hose cleaner; it's perfect!

This dryer duct cleaner was about as easy to use and worked as well as you could ask for. The segments are flexible enough to bend around 90 degree corners no problem, though it did take a little bit of finessing to get it around an S-bend in my duct. The kit seems pretty durable, and I don't forsee any issues getting several annual cleanings. 12' was not quite long enough to get my whole duct, but working from each end using a shop vac to assist (see below) took me all of maybe 20 minutes once I got the dryer moved.
In addition to following the instructions about removing the outside vent cap, I found it worked well to stick the blower hose of my shop vac into the dryer end of the duct and blow air through the duct as I worked the rotary brush through. (Just make sure to use a rag or blanket to seal up the end you're working from, so the air is actually forced through the duct) With the shop vac going, and working about 12" at a time, I ended up with a pretty good pile of lint outside that had been cleaned out!
The instructions say to wrap each joint with a piece of duct tape--that's probably a good idea, but as long as you're careful to ONLY rotate the brush clockwise, you will actually be tightening the threaded joints. Another reviewer mentioned setting the clutch on your electric drill to the lowest setting--also a very good idea, just in case the brush were to get caught on a sharp edge of duct or something.

I don’t usually write reviews for the stuff I buy, unless it needs a bad review. However, this is one thing I feel more homeowners need to know about it. I discovered this product after watching a YouTube video from a professional dryer vent cleaner. I bought two sets of these, because my pipe goes all the way to the roof, with 10+ foot ceilings and then the attic. I ended up using just one extra pole from the second set. I used my husbands shop vac, just turned it in and sat the end of the tube on the ground near the bottom of the vent trap. I started with one pole and added one pole at a time as I cleaned up the pipe, and did the same thing as I came back down the pipe. So much lint came out. I was amazed how easy and quickly I was able to clean out my dryer vent. Cleaning out this pipe has been the biggest headache of our home for the years we’ve been here. Now, I can do it in no time. My husband usually handles all these things, but I decided to try to help him out and I was surprised how well I was able to do it without any help. It also helped with cleaning out the vent from the back of the dryer. If your dryer vents to the attic, you need one of these, no questions asked. I used our electric drill to run it and it went so quickly. I never thought cleaning a dryer vent could be so fun!
By the way, I did NOT receive anything free for writing this review. I hate when people do that. I paid for this on my own and it was worth every penny and more.

I was hesitant to get this due to some of the reviews, I want to be very clear this product is awesome! I read that someone needed instructions as to how it connects it to a drill, not hard at all if you have EVER used a drill. Someone else said it didn't work for their purposes, I have no idea what their purpose was and won't guess. My purpose was to remove lint from the dryer duct and it worked like a boss! We have one of the new uppity dryers that is too smart. If you have lint build up it won't burn your house down, it just wont work. I spent a day on a ladder using my old snake and thought I did a good job, only to reconnect everything which is a pain because I'm too big to fit in that tiny space, only to get a blocked duct code. I got this in spite of the reviews and I am so happy I did. When I say I thought I did a good job, I snaked that sucker until no more lint came out. Using this bad boy I got out a ton more. I highly recommend this product.

The local window company charges $125 to clean the dryer vent, no matter how long it is. I had them scheduled because the house inspector said ours was very dirty. But then I thought I'd check into how it is done and found this super cool lint remover on Amazon. I love that it is easy to store because it breaks down into 2' lengths. I also love how it bends around corners through the vent and just keeps right on going. But the thing I love most about it is that I hooked it to my drill and away is spun through the vent cleaning it along the way. It took about 5 minutes to clean it, so I'm happy I mustered up the courage to make an attempt at being handy. I saved a hundred bucks for it.

Does what it says. I am glad I read all the reviews that said not to force or push it through turns. I have a 11 feet vent and there is a 90 degree bend towards the end of the vent. The brush would not go through. Kept at it slowly and persistently for 20 minutes and it was stuck right there. Was tempted to push through but did not. Took a break and tried again. Spent another 15 minutes truing to slowly push it through but it would not go. Was almost about to give up and try from the other direction when it just went through the bend. I think it was stuck so long was because it collected all the direct from the vent and it all just collected at the bend. Once the majority of the dirt was removed It would go easily through that bend. I used tape on all the connections as per the instructions. It worked great. Make sure you run the drill on high otherwise it will miss some dirt.

Its rare that I find a tool that works so exceptionally well that I think everyone should have one. In this instance this is one of them. Thirty years ago we purchased one of the accordion aluminum flexible dryer hoses but ashamedly never cleaned it. A month ago I inspected one end of it and was flabbergasted to find it had almost grown a new skin of lint on the inside. I purchased this Deflecto Duct Cleaning kit and tried it out today. Within less than 10 minutes all the lint was removed. The only caution I advise is if attaching it to a drill is to only run the drill clockwise. If you reverse the drill while the brush is inside the extensions will come undone and the brush will be sitting somewhere within the flexible duct. You'll need to push it out one way or the other with something long, and you could accidentally puncture the duct while doing that. Worth every penny.

I had years of buildup in a 27 foot duct that ran under the house with a right angle in the first 2 feet. After living here 3 years, my drier started giving me an error message about air flow. I invested in 2 of these kits to connect together and try to clean it out.
After reading other reviews, I was very nervous about It coming apart inside the duct. I tested the attachment and un-attachment of the drill before putting anything in further than I could reach and was glad I did because the first time I unattached the drill (I wasn’t holding it right) the rods came unscrewed (duct tape reinforcement and all) which would have been disastrous in the duct.
After that, I attached one rod at a time and pulled it back up to clean the lint off. Each time it went down with one more rod and came back up with more lint. By the time I got past the halfway point it was a lot easier and less lint came back.
All in all, I pulled up about 5 lbs of lint (filling an entire plastic grocery bag. Ewww). I didn’t make it quite to the end but could see the brush from the outside end and it was clean.
I feel so much better about not burning down the house now and my next load of laundry dried in half the time.
This was a small investment for a lasting peace of mind and much quicker laundry times!!

The brush and extension rods are of good quality, and are a bargain (in my opinion) for the price. I used them in our rather long dryer duct and ended up with the equivalent of a plastic grocery sack of lint that the brush loosened. I went about the cleaning process backwards, starting at the end. Should have started at the dryer. Procedure was to push in the brush and add extension rods until I couldn't push the brush any further. Then, I attached a small cordless drill to the end of the rod and turned the brush clockwise (make sure, counterclockwise will unthread the rods!) as I pulled the brushes out. Then, I turned our dryer on air fluff and watched large pieces of lint come blowing out. I did this three times with large amounts of lint coming out. I didn't get much out of the dryer and the pipe closest to the dryer. All my lint seemed to be where the pipe exits the house and then goes under our deck. I'm thinking the humid air in the duct hits cold air in the winter, the water condenses and then lint sticks to the water. Bottom line is that this brush works, is capable of cleaning a good length of duct, the extension rods are in handy two foot long segments, and the cleaning kit is a fantastic value, even if you only use it once or twice.

First of all, this thing worked great as described, and my dryer is again running at full exhaust volume. That said, thought I'd add a note of caution that may help somebody from repeating my mistake. As is noted in the questions sections above, do not, I repeat, do not run it in reverse. I started cleaning my 20-or-so feet of duct, and about halfway through felt a bit of resistance. Figured I had hit a clump of lint, and--OK, so maybe I had a beer in my hand at the time--thought it would be a good idea to back it off a few inches and re-approach the minor obstruction. What I did, as other posters have noted is a risk, was to unthread the brush from about 12 feet of extension sections. Tried pushing it through; no luck. Tried my homeowner-grade plumber's snake; too short. Ended up having to buy a second one of these kits, and, voilá!, the second brush pushed my mistake brush out to the duct vent. Great product; works exactly as described; my stupidity was the only limiting factor. Our clothes dryer is running like the day we bought it. Bottom line--buy it and keep it turning clockwise!!
Speedbrake
My dryer run is 34'. I bought 3 kits. It was actually cheaper to buy 3 kits, than to buy extensions to reach 34'. The length worked out just about perfect as the poles aren't always geometry straight when they're going thru the vent, so I needed every single extension rod (36' total) to clean a 34' duct. As others have stated: NEVER run the drill in reverse (counter clockwise), you will unscrew the connections and you will inaccessibly strand your rods and brush inside the vent. I duct taped each extension connection point, but I don't think that's really necessary. It will buy you a couple seconds of insurance in case you accidentally reverse the drill. Probably smarter to just duct tape the fwd/rev button on your drill in the fwd position. I put my drill on low speed which is plenty of rotation, in my opinion. I tried it on fast speed and I seemed to have a harder time unscrewing the connections when finished. I think fast speed way overtightens the connection points. I cleaned from the vent exit point, going "upstream" a foot or two at a time, then reversing (not reversing the drill, that's always fwd/clockwise, but pulling out the brush to clear lint), while the dryer was running on 'no heat' setting. That way the airflow pushes out what you loosen up, a little bit at a time. If your vent is already plugged, this method probably isn't the best way to go. All I can say is I got A LOT more lint out than I expected. Two regular size Target bags, filled to the handles, full of lint and hair too. That was one of the biggest surprises, how much hair came out. Gross. Can comfortably say that the dryer vent is completely clean now and done for half the price of a professional cleaning after a single use. Plan on using it again every year. If I had any critique it's the time it take to screw/unscrew each connection. Not a big deal if you have a 10' run, but mine is a very long dryer vent run. However, some kind of quick-connect would probably drive the price up too much.
CMM
I also used duct tape to connect the brush to the 1st section. Google says a professional duct cleaning on the dryer costs $90 to $160. This worked great, what used to take 1.5 hrs to dry, now takes 20 minutes. The sections are much more "flexible" than I thought they would be, so it worked great going through the multiple bends. I needed 5 of the 6 sections to get to the outside. I disconnected the rod from the drill when I reached the outside and then pulled it free and repeated the process again from the inside. Also, take the time to clean the inside of your dryer vent (inside the dryer) with a vacuum, since you have it away from the wall and have access to it. Before putting the bird cage protection back on the exterior exhaust vent, run the dryer as it will send loose debris that will clog the bird cage protection. Ask me how I know??

I don't have a clothes dryer. So why, did I buy this product? I wanted to get the excess crap/crud out of my HVAC ducts. I'm a heavy user of air conditioning. The cleaner the ducts, the better the air quality and efficiency. I live in an apartment and duct cleaning is not covered. Also I'm too cheap to have strangers come into my fine abode, upset my rambunctious cat and make the whole affair a Broadway production. I can imagine a bill with three digits and no decimal points after the first number. The technicians schlepping behemoth machines and fancy chemicals and the old upsell. So Deflecto Duct cleaning kit to the rescue. The brush is nice and long when all the rods are attached. My ducts are wall mounted right below the ceiling and I'm vertically challenged. No problem using this kit. I don't have a drill so I attach all the extensions shove the brush inside the duct and use a clockwise direction as instructed. A lot of dust and crud came out. I know that to have pristine spotless ducts, I'd have to call in the professionals but, I'm very satisfied and can feel the slight performance improvement in the areas I cleaned the ducts with this product.

I purchased this unit along with the Gardus RLE202 LintEater 10-Piece Rotary Dryer Vent Cleaning System hoping the rods would be interchangeable. I'm happy to say they are. With both kits I was able to get around 24' of reach. The rods in this kit (Deflecto) are much smaller than the longer rods included in the Gardus Kit. This helps with storage but can be slightly annoying having to put multiple pieces together. They recommend applying duct tape to the joints once put together. This is a good idea to help prevent them from unscrewing. Do not run your drill in reverse as this will unscrew the joints and could break the tape causing a few rods and the brush to be caught deep in the vent pipe. This is true for both Kits. Overall a very good kit. I did like the additional attachments you get with the Gardus kit and for a few $ more I would recommend it. This kit was a good addition to the Gaurdus kit and allowed me to extend my reach for a few $ less

Picked up a couple of these sets because I have a 30' long dryer vent run and the duct cleaning company I paid couldn't take care of obvious mildew that had developed in the vent. Initially, there was a really nasty smell (like something crawled up there and died) - after the duct cleaner came out the first time he didn't find anything but got a lot of lint out and sprayed bleach inside. While the really awful smell was now mostly gone, not long after, the mildew smell became pretty noticeable. I don't think the brush the duct cleaning company had was long enough to reach in to get to the trouble spots. He was running a blower and got a lot of lint out but the smell persisted even after he came out a second time and sprayed bleach into the duct with a compressed air gun.
At this point I decided to DIY it, and I'm glad I did. I initially didn't have a keyless chuck drill around when I got the Deflecto kits so I tried by hand - I put 12' (one kit) down the vent from the laundry room and sure enough as I was pulling it back up the rods were wet with that rank mildew smell. I think this was a result of lint that had gotten wet and stuck to the walls of the duct like paper mache. I finally obtained a drill from an old coworker and went to work. Setting the clutch on 4 (as was recommended by another reviewer) was perfect at least on a Hitachi cordless drill set. I first went in on low gear and from both the laundry room and from the outside exhaust. Probably made 2-3 passes in total then ran an electric 165mph leaf blower duct-taped around the vent from the laundry room. I could still detect the smell so I went in on high gear and several more passes, again using the leaf blower to blow out excess. More stuff came out but the smell was less noticeable. I went ahead and poured about 1/2c-1c of baking soda into the vent and used the leaf blower to blow it through and then hooked the dryer back up. It's been about a week now and there's barely a trace of that mildew smell. I think the combination of going through with the Deflecto kit again and then letting the leaf blower push air and dry out the duct really helped by leaps and bounds.
A few other things to note:
- There are three 90 (or close to 90) degree bends in the 30ft duct run, which runs underground. It was a bit tricky getting around the first bend the first time but after that it was pretty easy.
- I didn't tape the rods together as recommended - I felt this would be too tedious since I was screwing/unscrewing each section as I was pushing it in or pulling it out.
- Go slow but don't hold back on the high speed gear setting (if you have one) - just make sure to set the clutch low and ALWAYS drill/turn clockwise so as to not undo any rods
- I was scared I'd have issues like a couple others who took pictures, of their rods getting twisted up really badly. This didn't happen - I can only imagine that happening if you go in too aggressively and too fast without using the clutch and trying to drill in a super long section of rod (rather than going piece by piece)
- I thought with two kits I would see the brush head pop out of the exhaust but I was still 5-6' short
- I bought a 30' snake cam (by Bluefire) that I was able to use to check on the condition of the vent before/after/in-between each cleaning. This was SUPER useful - I had to attach a small LED flashlight to make it more useful for visibility. But after the duct cleaner did his thing the first time, there were MAGGOTS crawling around inside the duct!
I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to clean out their dryer vents. I should have just bought these from the get-go instead of hiring someone. Now I know... It's also cheaper buying two of these versus the Linteater kit, which runs $28 or so. The difference is that you don't get all the extras/accessories that the Linteater comes with - those extras *may* be useful especially if your ducts are really clogged up. But instead of the extras/accessories you get the extra length with 2 kits. In my case, all I needed was the brush and rods (and extra length).

This product saved me $140. I had scheduled a profession service to clean my interior dryer vent which was vented to the roof of my house. They were going to charge me $140. I searched Amazon.com for products that had 4 to 5 review star rating. I needed at least 20 to 25 feet to clean the entire length of my vent duct. The 12 foot brush/rod package contains 4 - 2 foot flexible rods and a 4 inch brush. I had also purchased the 12 foot extension rods (4 - 3 foot flexible rods) with Amazon's suggested "also bought." product prompt.
I found both the 2 and 3 foot rods flexible, yet stiff enough to clean the entire 21 feet of my dryer vent. The instructions on the package were very helpful in the use of their product which included placing duct tape around the junctions of each rod to prevent accidental unscrewing of the rods while using a variable speed drill.
Suggestion: Secure the brush head to one of the cleaning rods by placing two strips of about 8 inch folded-over duct tape in the shape of an 'X' over the head of the brush and between the groves of the brush; then secure those 2 strips with another strip of duct tape around the rod.

When I removed the louvre on the side of the house there was a great deal of lint that I could pull out by hand. I then inserted the brush connected to a single rod, and used a drill to turn it slowly. I added rods and turned, loosening the remaining lint in the 4" ducting very effectively. My only gripe is that I needed more rods than the six that were provided, so I bought an entire second set (including a brush that I did not need). I would have purchased a set containing the six rods without the brush, but it was more expensive than the full set. Several times I have seen this "unbalanced pricing" on the Amazon site, and wish that they would fix those situations.

We have quite a long dryer vent to the outside and really needed a way to clean it. We had had a make-shift twirler but wasn't satisfied with the results. Thus, we purchased the Deflect-o brush kit. It works like a charm with lint coming out in drifts. Turning the dryer on cool and letting it blow while going in from the outside really did the trick. We also ran it from the inside to the outside with a shop vac running on the outside to pull the lint on through. The the screw together pipes were quite easy to attach to each other and upon the advice of another reviewer, we put a small piece of duct tape around each connection just to be safe and not have them come apart in the middle of the venting. The brush is nice and stiff which we found to be such a plus as it was able to loosen all the built up packed lint on the sides of the vent line. I highly recommend this kit for keeping your dryer vents clean and fire hazard free.

Best money ever spent. if you have a dryer that has drying issue, this is what you need. Attach it to a drill and see how much lint is caked up in your duct work. Warning: Run your drill in clockwise direction only.

Sorry, not a action photo but this is the object of my work. The lower outlet is from the dryer. The 90 degree junction is about 22' from this port. I had it cleaned before professionally for about $175 so I thought I would do it myself this time. The run is so long, I'm concerned about fire. I also am concerned about threaded rods becoming unthreaded 15' into the vent. So the mechanism that you use to attach the rods is very positive. I didn't use a drill because with a run so long I don't think it would work well. The technique that I used was to insert and remove and add a extension each time. I got lots of grey lint (I wondered why it was that color). Each stroke removed more material. When I reach the junction, I moved the dryer and use the same technique from that direction. I am confident that the vent is clean and safe.

Excellent product, excellent customer service

Works well but the dryer vent cleaner dosnt fit the stove pipe rods.
MISTER & MRSTWOTURBO
Wow!!! This product was rididiculously easy to use. Rods are very flexible. Luckily my pipe just makes a 90 going into the wall and goes straight up to the roof but with how flexible the rods are, if there are more 90 degree angle, it should work fine. I added one rod at a time, used the drill, and took it back out before adding another one. Moved into my house a year ago and always had an issue with the dryer not working properly. Used the leaf blower a couple times through the vent, disassembled my dryer twice, of course it takes my spending $1500 on a new washer/dryer to use a product like this before I put in the new one. Definitely recommend and will use every 6 months to make sure this does not happen again

Worked great and really cleaned out the ducts. Three of the extensions loosened from the torque of the drill but Homeowners Choice immediately sent me new ones when I notified them of this problem.
Charles N.
It worked ok but I believe the brush needs to be longer and more fuller .

This product worked perfectly, I couldn't be happier.
After watching a "dryer vent cleaning" video on YouTube I made my own vacuum adapter using a 3" PVC wye and the homeowners best friend, duct tape.
The reason for the vacuum adapter is our dryer vent terminates on the roof of our two story house. If I were 17 again, that would be no problem. However, no longer being young, daring and stupid, I chose safe and intelligent. Mission accomplished with no trips the hospital or morgue.
Great cleaning tool.
Customer
This thing really works. Excellent quality and close to perfect. My dryer exhaust goes down underneath concrete floor.
Have been struggling for years cleaning the pipe but have found a great solution.
David G.
Works pretty well. Sections area a bit hard to connect but stay together. I was able to clean a 15 foot section of duct by hand without using a drill and navigated one 90 degree turn. Overall satisfied with product.

Was the best thing I ever bought highly recommended
Kelly Pofahl
This saved me money from having to hire a chimney sweeping company and was really easy to use.
maoma
I was impressed how much dust came out from that tool!
Willis Johnson
This product is very sturdy. I had to literally pound out the massive wad that was stuck in the vent, and it withstood it all. Dryer dries much better/faster now. My only minor problem was one rod I could not connect, but luckily ended up not needing it. Would highly recommend.
jwalk
Does exactly what it says, and does it really well. Everyone wants to borrow it.
Kimberly
Wow! These work great. My dryer vent has never been cleaner.
wilpower
Works well, easy to maneuver around 90 degree turns. Only negative is releasing the small pin when taking it apart.
Gary Kelly
Fantastic!
Christina Friedman
this product is amazing! My husband never imagined this tool would make cleaning the dryer vent so easy! Great investment
Nancy T.
This package has more rods to extend the length for cleaning. A plus for me because my vent is 15 feet from the dryer. I could not work from the inside because I have two back to back 90 degree angles just inside the wall. I worked from outside and it did great. Very happy. Should have bought a kit earlier. Heavy loads dry much quicker.

...My wife and I had noticed, eventually, that it was taking longer and longer to get our clothes dry. It had gone up to more than 2 hours of multiple drying cycles to get them dry. Then the dryer threw a code. I looked it up and it said our vent was more than 90% blocked. NOT GOOD ! ! ! !...A bit of research led me to this Dryer Vent Cleaner Kit...It worked great. Drying is now done in one cycle and less than 30 minutes...Great product...
David J. Rysz
Works great. I had to use a drill to get the brush past a 90 degree bend. After that I was able to manually push the brush up. I was able to pull out about a grocery bag full of lint. It’s like we have a new dryer!
Randy Thompson
Easy to use and did the job.
brize
This is easy to use, has the right
Ken B.
These are pretty darned flexible yet sturdy, and have a good tight fastener. That made it very easy to just add sections as I pushed it up the pellet stove pipe I just wished I'd found these a few years ago as I wound up buying two very unsuitable products that promised a lot better quality than they delivered.
blgolf
really a good cleaning kit. Why pay someone $75 to $125 to do something so simple. The only draw back I occurred, was un-doing the rods as I pulled them down. A little tough. But still worth every penny. Record A+A+
KR
Worked as advertised. Was not able to get it past a second 90 degree angle from the laundry area, but from the exterior vent opening I was able to finish the job. Got a lot of wet and moist clods of lint out.
Mark J
Great Product. Made short work of cleaning a 15 foot vent.
Kevin
I was amazed at how well this things works, best money I ever spent. Have a shop vac ready it is aggressive !!!!
Fern
Dryer exhaust duct cleaner. Easy to use, worked as described. I had never cleaned the ducting and it showed. This product is made well and did the job. I would recommend it.
Heath Stephn
Purchased this item and was working good. The drill adapter got stuck in one or the rods. Emails the seller and they replaced the part quickly. Great customer service. Our dryer drys the cloths much fast now that the duct is clean.
Nick Lime
didn,t use it yet but it looks fine
Peggy A. Horrell
I used the product without a drill and it worked really well. Dryer dries much faster and I may have prevented dryer damage or even worse a fire. I bought this product specifically because of a recommendation I read in the review of another product. The rods in this kit snap together instead of screwing together so they don't come apart as you are cleaning.
tiimy
This is a wonderful product. Had my dryer vents professionally cleaned but they still seem to clogged. Used this device both from the inside and from the outside worked wonderfully. I cleaned out a lot of lint. Easy-to-use. Makes 90 degree turns with no problems. A must have for people with problem dryer vents.
Dave Berthiaume
Worked like the reviews stated. I used the item to clear a dryer vent approximately 16 feet long.
Hopalong
This is a well constructed brush kit that worked very well for us. My only slight criticism (sort of) is the extension pieces lock together so well that it is difficult (at least it was for me) to unhook them. However, if you have a long dryer hose to clean, it’s good to know the multiple extension pieces won’t come unhooked.
Nancy S Craig
We had no idea how desperately our dryer duct needed to be cleaned until we bought this product and went to work. Easy to use and very effective.
RJA Boston
Needed to have my vertical dryer vent cleaned out as the “Blocked” icon was on display. 2 yrs ago I had a service company do it for $150. After some research, this item was clearly out front. Sure enough, using my power drill and adding one extension rod at a time I easily got the 10 ft of vertical vent cleaned out and vacuumed. Then up to the attic to access the 15 ft horizontal vent and cleaned out and blew the remaining material outside with my shop vac. In about 2 hrs work I saved $150!! I will do this yearly . This tool is awesome- effective, flexible and plenty long. This is a ‘must have’ for all DIY’ers
MikeD
Works like a champ! My dryer vent points toward the front of the house but has two 90 degree bends so that it exits out at the back of the house. I was worried that this tool wouldn't be able to make it around those sharp bends but it worked well with no issues. This tool unclogged my vent that was filled with more than two plastic grocery bags full of lint.
Prem925
This dryer vent cleaning kit is excellent. It comes with circular brush and a spindle brush heads. The brushes and rod sections attach to each other using ball/spring joints which are quite secure but still easy to attach/detach. The rod sections are surprisingly flexible and the drill attachment is a nice option, although I opted not to use it. The tool removed all the lint from a 14’ duct. I highly recommend this product and advocate its use to prevent fires.
Razzzr
This set was great! I cleaned my 16' run in 15 minutes. The sections snap together easily with no worries about coming apart in the pipe. I just set the dryer to cool setting and it blew all the dislodged lint out. The vent hadn't been cleaned in nearly 10 years and needed it badly. I got shiny clean pipe for $120 less than a professional bid.
Mr. G.A.
I used this brush to clean 16 feet of dryer duct. I turned the dryer on with no heat, and cleaned the vent starting from outside and working to the dryer. I pushed the brush in and then pulled it back out with each section of brush I added. I kept the drill on a medium speed and couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out. Needless to say, my dryer is working better now and drying times are shorter. Great product!
Capris Bob
Haven't used it yet but seems like it will work as intended. Not disappointed with item or packaging.

I have lived in my home for 19 years and have never cleaned my dryer vent which is around 25 foot in length up a wall (2 right angles) and thru my attic to the outside of my home. We got a dog a few years ago and evidently my dryer vent became completely clogged with lent and dog hair so badly that it started leaking water in my attic at a seam in the vent. Bought this system and powered it with a Black & Decker battery operated drill. It really works great especially since my vent was so completely compacted with wet lint. I used the main vent sized stuff brush until I got to the ham and then switched to the smaller in width but longer and softer brush that with the spinning motion of the drill actually drilled a hole through the lint and allowed me to pull to out with the brush. If it can clean my vent that had not been cleaned in 19 years then it should handle most any vent cleaning as I can't imagine much worse cases. Took about 4 hours and some patience but saved me a lot of money as it's very possible the duct cleaning people would suggested replacing the clogged vent as it was that bad. I am extremely satisfied with this product.

If you are a new home buyer or already own a home. I would highly recommend this tool for your dryer vent could save you from having a fire. Task was easy and simple to perform.
AddictRob
Worked really well. The rods are a bit clunky to put together but it worked incredibly well. Buy this brush, use it and prepare to be amazed at just how much dust is trapped in your vent piping.
Kristen Goodchild
Our dryer had an error code and would quit working mid cycle because our dryer vent was too full. We purchased this and cleaned out the pipes and instantly the dryer worked great again.
Zachary Steele
We have a dryer vent that goes 12 feet up the inside of the wall to a roof exhaust pipe. By starting at the bottom and moving the brush up and down the lint began falling down in clumps. Adding one extension rod at a time and using a push-pull motion the entire pipe was cleaned out in about 20 minutes. The skinny brush attachment made it easy to break through a couple of thicker clumps when needed. I strongly suggest having a vacuum cleaner by your side when doing the job to avoid being covered in lint. My wife and I were very happy with this product.
Citizen of Nightside
Easy to assemble and works perfectly.
Jocorret
This is a great product, thoroughly cleaned lint build up in both the dryer and the 15 foot vent exhaust that comes out on our roof. It is a must have for any do it yourself home owner!
jeff
After using this product for the first time, I would highly recommend it.It assembles quickly and without fear of the rods becoming disengaged.I removed the vent cover, connected the rods to a cordless drill and insertedfrom the exterior while the dryer was running. Once loosened, the debrisblew out. Since my wife does a couple of loads each day, I will make thispart of my maintenance routine.

I don’t write reviews because stuff is just stuff but I was truly impressed with this. It was fast and easy to use. In worked very well. It seems durable and well built. Time will tell but I’m guessing I’ll loose it in the garage before I break it.
wblobsta
I am pleased with the effectiveness of this purchase. Works as described and bends enough to handle the curves of the vent. My only complaint is the manor they connect by pushing in the locking mechanism as using the pointed end of the included tool is a joke. Mostly aggravating because tool slips off the push-pin - pushing a round pin with a pointed tip of tool is impossible. I used WD40 and a needle nose plyers and elbow grease. Are extra lengths available?
Bo Williams
High-quality product that worked exactly as described. It was all of 15 minutes from opening the box to my problem being solved. Glad to have this in my arsenal now.
Gregg
Great easy to use product. I was able to use from outside my house. I ran the dryer so it blows the lint out as I moved the brush in. Do not need to spin the brush a lot. Just take your time.
Alicia D
It works well.

Easy to use to clean my vents.
